Chinese New Year, by Elizabeth (February 28, 2015)

There are 15 days of Chinese New Year.  I like Chinese New Year.

There are a lot of fireworks but they are mostly on the 9th day. There are also pops in the morning.  I can sleep through the fireworks and sometimes I get to see the fireworks.  Sometimes we get invited to some parties.  One year when we got invited we got to see a lot of fireworks.  Usually the Chinese clean their house to get the bad spirits out and to bring the good spirits in and then they have a fancy dinner with their family.  That is why there are a lot of fireworks.  They also put up these tent things so sometimes it is hard to drive [Mom: The tents partly block the roads].

You also get ang pow even if you're not Chinese.  They also give oranges.  The oranges represent gold so we have a lot of gold.  And they always hang lanterns.

Thank you for reading my blog.

Cross Country, by Hannah (February 22, 2015)

This Valentine's Day, instead of being upset over my single status, I found something much more important to do.  I decided to run 5 kilometers in a state-wide competition.  It was a lot of fun.

Singapore Zoo, by Elizabeth (January 10, 2015)

This is a polar bear when he is about to get food.

This is the polar bear when he is diving to get food.

He just got all his food and is resting.

This is the rhinoceros.  He is trying to get food.

These are the giraffes.

These are the meerkats.  They were my favorite animal.

They all fight each other and do very cute and weird things.

This meerkat is keeping watch.

This is a cheetah.  It is finding its prey.

This is an orangutan.

This orangutan is watching its baby.

This is a turtle peering into the camera.

This is a lion resting.

This is a tiger waiting to kill you.

This orangutan is about to climb up a tree.

Track and Field, by Hannah (November 14, 2014)

At Dalat International School we have a Track and Field Day.  It is coming up so I really want to get new shoes.  My old shoes are not meant for running and they are starting to wreck a little bit.  I also want to pack extra water this Track and Field Day so I will have more energy to run faster.  I am doing long jump, 800m, 1500m, and 3000m.  I can not wait until Track and Field Day.

Track and Field Day, by Aimee (November 21, 2014)

Track and Field Days are an annual thing that happens every year.  We go to a big track and have sprinting races and also some long distance races.  We have four teams (as you may know from the blog about Track and Field Day last year) - red, green, yellow, and blue.  Each team took a bus to the stadium.  When we got there my first race was about to start.  My first race was 1.5 km.  We started it around 9:00.  All the girls who participated in it lined up.  Then we started.  I was one of the middle runners.  We had to do 3 and a half laps around the track.  After I had finished it they recorded my time and all the other people's times.  Then I went up into the stands and rested a bit.  After a bit, I collected my ribbon for 1.5 km and I got second.  I also collected my ribbon for the 3 km race I did on Wednesday (two days before).  Right after that I had to do long jump.  I did not place in that event but I did O.K.  After this I rested for a long time and watched all the sprinting events.  First there was 100 meter and it was a very popular race.  I also checked the scoreboard and sadly, my red team was second to last.  After watching the races and just chilling, they brought out the lunch.

Birthday Party, by Kate (November 7, 2014)

On November 1, 2014, Elizabeth and I had a birthday party.  Elizabeth invited Jeta, Karis, and Jordan (three girls in her grade).  I invited Ruthie, Emily and Rachel (three girls in my class).  I think everyone is coming except for Emily.  It is a spa party.  I think it is going to be so much fun.

When everyone got there we did face masks on everyone.  There was a green face mask and a clear one.  The green mask looked funny.  The clear one was almost invisible.  We then put cucumbers on.  Then we took a group photo.  We kept the face masks on.  Next we put our feet in water and did foot massages and nails.  Then we took our face mask off.  Then we did our feet.  After, we did different photos with the different things my mom had.  Then we had a snack of fruit and cupcakes.  After, we played the game Apples to Apples.  Then everyone started to leave.  We gave them goody bags.

Horseback Riding, by Elizabeth (October 24, 2014)

We went horseback riding and I will tell you how it happened.  One day our mom told us we were going  horseback riding.  I was so excited I could not wait.  I had never been horseback riding.  It took a really long time to get there.  Once we get there we got our tickets and food for the horse.  Then we walked down to the stable and fed the horses.  We also got to pet the horses.  Then we asked a person if we could ride the horse.  They said 'yes' and we got our helmets and rode a horse.  I tried to get the horse to go faster but it did not go faster.  Finally when we got down, we left.  I thought it was very fun.
