Jasper's Disappearance, by Kate

Jasper is our really good pet.  He has some really cute times, but also some times when we are really worried about him. One day this week we thought Jasper was dead or had run away.  Let me tell you about it.  A normal school day started.  Then someone (who I will not mention) took Jasper upstairs as they were getting ready to brush their teeth. Then they forgot about him.  We left for school!  Mom happened to go home in the middle of the day because she had to pick up something for Elizabeth and on the drive home she was thinking (she told me later) how she could give Jasper a special middle-of-the-day snack. When she arrived home she saw an empty cage!  She wondered if Jasper had run away but then how could that be because his cage was closed.  Mom looked everywhere, even down the street.  So when she got back to school mom told dad and he went home to look.  He had to ask the middle school principal permission to go home in the middle of the day.  Still Jasper had not come back.  Finally school ended.  Then mom told us the sad news.  Jasper was gone!  They had found no clues where he had gone - no fur or poops.  Then someone else who I will not mention started to cry. So then the person who had last had Jasper out of his cage in the morning realized what had happened, remembered where they had put Jasper, and we all rushed home. We went and looked and there was Jasper, safe in a laundry basket! The person who had put him there thought he would like cuddling with clothes.  Luckily Jasper was still alive although he was very hungry and thirsty.  Maybe Jasper now hates laundry baskets.

  1. What a funny story, although I know it wasn't funny as it was happening! Glad there was a happy ending! Jasper is a very cute guineapig! From the BC Browns
