Near the homestay we lived in when we were in Lombok, an island in Indonesia, there was a cemetary. This homestay was quite far out of the closest city down a twisty dirt road into a kampung (like a distinct small neighbourhood). One evening just before dusk we went for a walk through the cemetary, or rather I walked through it and the others mostly hung around the periphery. Some gravesites were well maintained but others barely distinguishable from the scattered rocks and leaves around them. Some were mounded with plants around or on top - both real plants and plastic, and some sites were just covered with rocks or bricks in a pile. Some had a tomb marker but no writing on it. There were none that I can recall where the person died even in their senior years, for example, 70 years old, but all at a younger age than that. Dusk arrives quickly in Asia and it did feel a little spooky as the sun started to go down, made more so because there were no pathways or order to how the grounds were laid out and I didn't want to step just anywhere in the approaching dark.

| The two markers on each plot are identical, describing the same person |

| This was the nicest of all the plots, the only one like it in the cemetary |
