Junior Senior Banquet (JSB) Pictures

Hannah with her date Joel (just a friend) by the outdoor basketball court not far from the Chapel. The JSB starts in the Dalat Chapel, where the theme for the evening is introduced. After the theme is introduced everyone gets on the bus to go to the hotel (which is kept as a surprise until we arrive at its doorstep).  The theme this year was 'Dragonslayer' - the Medieval Ages

Introducing the sponsors for next year's Junior Class. After they introduce the new sponsors, the class introduces this year's theme for JSB
Lori (with her organizing clipboard) and Lacey, two of this year's Junior Sponsors, excited about all the plans coming together for this big night.  In the background, this year's Seniors are headed up to buses that will take them to the venue
People watching all the staff and students walk by, heading to the buses
Boarding the bus to head off to the JSB venue - St. Giles Wembley Hotel. It is a new hotel in the city so it was the first time the school used this venue for JSB. The theme and venue for JSB are kept as a guarded secret from the rest of the staff and students, especially the Seniors.  In the background is one set of dorms on campus
Introducing the Seniors and their dates (in this case it was a married couple - a long story)
Aimee dressed up like a knight
Aimee with Elizabeth.  It has become a tradition in the last few years to have living props at JSB
Kate dressed up as a knight, with Hannah looking on

Stage with the theme of the JSB on the large LED screen. We used the LED screen to show videos and pictures of the Juniors and Seniors. Some of the Juniors (in the foreground of the stage) were dressed up in costumes. For the theme this year, each actor represented a clan. A dragon has been slain and each clan is claiming that they killed the dragon. During the evening the actors are trying to determine which clan killed the dragon. Staff and students were divided up into different clans, depending on where they were sitting
Table that Garth and Eileen sat at, with some of the new sponsors for next year
Hannah with her date.  He has a head mic because he was one of the actors - a head of a clan

A better picture.  Joel played Sir Lancelot in the drama during the evening
Staff posing with the three knights
Helping ourselves at the buffet table
Aimee with her Grade 12 buddy Emma (also they were soccer teammates)
Hannah's good friend Kimberly (also an actor that evening, representing a clan leader - Merida - the character from the movie Brave)

Cake in the shape of a medieval dressed pig
Arm wrestling competition at JSB - a manly sport of the medieval times ???
One of the Juniors dressed up as a jester

Sword fight (Nerf sword) between two students. The students had to balance on the board on the floor while having their sword fight.  In the background you can see the tower, castle walls. and banners that were created by the class

Hannah giving her tribute to a senior (Sarah)
After the tribute the Junior "knighted" the Senior
Hannah accompanying Sarah to get her gift (a sword letter opener) by having her pull it out of the "stone". The "stone" was made of styrofoam and loads of paper mache, a big prop Hannah (and her sister Elizabeth) had made during Spring Break
Listening to more tributes
Aimee in her knight costume

Actors are arguing over which clan actually killed the dragon. In the end it did not matter who killed the dragon. What was important is that they had all worked together with their individual skills to kill the dragon
Final act. A student from the Junior Class sang The Call (by Regina Spektor). During the last chorus all the Juniors got on stage to sing along. On the LED screen were scrolling pictures of  different seniors during their time at Dalat
