Ubud, Bali, by Aimee (July 27, 2014)

Our first stop on our vacation was a small town called Ubud.  It has nice markets where you can find clothes for quite cheap, and there are lots of restaurants on every street.  We were staying in some bungalows called Lokasari Bungalows just outside of Ubud.  We could take a free shuttle to the town.

On the second day, we spent the day walking around the town.  My sisters bought a lot of things but I didn't see anything I was interested in buying.  There were many interesting shops, for example there was this interesting store called BAWA which stood for Bali Animal Welfare Association.  They took stray dogs off the streets and fixed and cleaned them up to become pets.  Then you could choose to adopt dogs.  They also saved dogs that were injured or dying.  Elizabeth and Kate both got little wristbands from there to support the cause.  We also walked around Monkey Forest.  I saw many monkeys there but they were trying to steal the bananas from a lady trying to sell them to the people to feed the monkeys!  Then we went to this store where we had lunch.  After this we walked around a bit and went back to the hotel.

The next day we were there we went on this hike that went through many rice fields.  The views were very beautiful.  It was about a 4 km walk in total.  Then we walked back.  It was really exciting because we saw a Dairy Queen there which we don't have in Malaysia.  So we had medium sized Blizzards for dinner.  The last thing we were going to see in Ubud was the traditional Indonesian dance called Legong Dance.  The dances were very hypnotic because they did many things with their eyes and facial expressions.  It was a bit creepy too.  After the dance we went back to the hotel and the next day we drove to our next destination.
