This newsletter shows pictures of Grade 2 students after our field trip to the USM University. Both classes of Grade 2's went at the end of October to learn about rocket-making, to start off our Astronomy unit. Students made rockets from empty Coke and Sprite bottles, then launched them by using air and water pressure. Most went about 150 metres into the air (the record in the world is 213 metres, held by students in the Philipines). By the end of our day there, we had also experienced an experiment on what happens when you combine Coke and Mentos (a Coke explosion) and the demonstration of large bubbles.
